About Camp Ross
We give scouts a great week and introduction to Scouting.
Camp Ross offers camping for 250. Our facilities include aquatics with a 23’ trampoline, nature area, handicraft area, archery range, BB range, and direct access to hiking trails. As of 2014, we have a new campfire circle. We also have a recently refurbished chapel where Packs can participate in the Duty to God program. Camp Ross is great fun for Webelos and their leaders and the staff helps to provide an added level of comfort as these young men and women prepare to bridge into Scouts.

Ross’s Program
Our theme for Summer 2024 is Indiana Ross.
Camp Ross offers a variety of programs and opportunities for Webelos and Arrow of Lights to enjoy throughout the summer camping season. Programs like BB Guns, Archery, Lake Swimming, and Nature are all offered at Camp Ross. We provide you with an activities schedule for Monday and Tuesday and you create your own schedule for Wednesday-Friday.

For Adults
Training by Camp Staff
The Camp Staff hold a number of training sessions for Adult leaders. Training includes Safety Afloat, Safe Swim Defense, and others.
There is no fee for these courses and no online registration required. For more information on the training offered by the camp staff, please check out the program materials in the downloads section below or contact your Camp Director.
Training by NCAC Training Committee
Every year, volunteers from the National Capital Area Training Committee offer training sessions for adult leaders at Goshen camps at no additional cost. Past training sessions have included IOLS and BSLST. Not all training sessions are offered each week.

Special Program: Phoenix Nest
Camp Ross’s Phoenix Nest is for small groups with only 1 adult leader (21+) and up to 4 youth. This includes both a child with a parent/guardian or 2 to 4 youth with 1 adult.
Phoenix Nest participants will be grouped together with others in the program to form one “Pack” for the week. Phoenix Nest youth and adults will do activities together, share a campsite, and eat together in the dining hall.
If you are planning on signing up for the Phoenix Nest program and have female youth, we strongly recommend that your adult be a female adult.
All adults participating in Phoenix Nest need to be registered and have current Youth Protection.
Phoenix Nest is offered all weeks – as long as space is available in that week – and the sign up process is the same as the unit sign up process.
Registration for Phoenix Nest opens on November 1, 2024.
Meet Your 2024 Camp Director
Drew Goshorn
Drew first attended Ross as a Webelos Scout in 2011 and returned in 2014 as a den chief with his younger brother. The following year he returned as a CIT and has been working at camp ever since. Drew spent his first 5 years working at Ross’s Nature Center becoming the Area Director in 2019. He was a part of our Webelos Homecamping staff during Covid before becoming Program Director in 2021. This will be Drew’s 10th Summer on staff and 2nd summer as Camp Director. When Drew is not at camp, he is finishing his History Degree from Southern New Hampshire University and works as a Substitute Teacher in Richmond, Virginia. Drew is excited to return and continue creating an amazing program for your scouts, and hopes to give them a great summer and introduction to scouting.

Availability indicates if new units are able to register for a specific week of camp. If your unit has already reserved a week at camp then your Goshen coordinator will be able to add campers as space allows.

Wildlife
There is a wide variety of wildlife at Goshen Scout Reservation. We've got many different species of reptiles and amphibians. There are also a number of birds, from your regular sparrows to turkeys, hawks, and eagles. We have what we call mini-bears (skunks, foxes, raccoons, etc.) and actual black bears.
Both to ensure our safety and to preserve the wonder of our bit of wilderness, it is important to understand how to interact with the wildlife around us.
No Food in Tents
Store food in a manner approved for your camp. Remember to take trash to the dumpster each night.
What to Do When You See Wildlife
Report to Camp Staff at the Admin building if you see a bear or any injured wildlife, or if there is any wildlife interfering or otherwise negatively impacting your stay. See any cool wildlife? Let the Nature staff know. If you can, take a picture of it and share it with us on Facebook or Instagram when you get home!
Transportation
Units may take advantage of the Goshen bus system chartered by our local council.
Units can also drive.
