Summer Camp Coordinators and Unit Leaders,
As summer approaches we are grateful for your time invested enrolling your Scouts for camp at Goshen Scout Reservation this summer. Summer camp is where we each witness the benefits of Scouting as we live the Scout Oath and Law together for a week. At camp, young people develop authentic leadership skills, demonstrate resilience, overcome challenges and build relationships with peers and other caring adult leaders all while having fun. Summer camp is also a leading mechanism for retention of Scouts of all ages, but certainly of our newest Scouts.
We don’t want any Scout or Scouter to miss out on this life-changing opportunity. With this in mind, and knowing that crossovers are still occurring across our Council today, we are pleased to share that we will preserve the Early Bird rate for all Scouts BSA and Cub Scout Resident camp operations for each of your units through May 17, 2024. We hope you will:
- Share this opportunity with new families. As we work to build membership across the National Capital Area Council and in our local units, new families feeling welcomed and participating in camp can solidify their commitment.
- Scouts BSA Troops: Reach out to those who have just crossed over from a Pack into a Troop or are new to Scouting, and offer to have a camp orientation with those parents. Should you need resources, let us know how we can assist with this conversation.
- Cub Scout Parents and Leaders: Consider who in your Den or Pack isn’t enrolled and invite them personally to attend with you. We know Cub Scouts enjoy camp more with their friends, and parents who attend camp volunteer the next year.
For those who may have already paid the regular fee, the camping department will work to adjust your account accordingly to honor this rate. We are excited to partner with you to ensure more members of your unit benefit from a camp experience this summer. Please reach out should you have any questions, and we look forward to seeing you at Goshen Scout Reservation in just a few weeks!
